With an estimated total of 300 participants, the  XXIII Simpósio de Mirmecologia strives to be an international meeting of cutting edge science that brings together students and professionals from Brazil and other continents.

This event specifically aims to (1) integrate diverse areas of scientific knowledge that contribute to advance the study of social insect biology, (2) encourage the exchange of experience and knowledge between researchers from different parts of the country and other countries, (3) stimulate joint technical / research projects and multi-institutional research arrangements via direct contact between the interested parties,

(4) contribute with the training of undergraduate and graduate students, (5) consolidate Brazil as center of research and development in myrmecology as well as ecology and conservation studies, (6) stimulate research in the biodiversity of different natural environments of southern Brazil, and (7) advance the integration of Paraná into the integral development Brazilian scientific research as a whole.
